Pesach calls for welcome

At Pesach, Jewish communities gather to recall the Exodus, our journey from oppression to freedom. Many of us in the UK will also be reflecting on more recent histories. We are of course a community largely descended from those who found refuge and rebuilt their lives here.

Such stories remind us just how vital protection is. And so, at our Seders this year, we must think too of those still facing their own journeys to safety – with a record 122 million people displaced worldwide.

Pesach’s enduring themes of freedom and resilience should guide our response. Together, we can build a UK where refugees are welcomed, and have a fair chance to thrive – just as Jewish refugees once needed before.

Wishing all of our supporters and followers celebrating Chag Pesach Sameach: a very happy Pesach.
